The act of writing is a transformative experience. It transports me to a magical time and place where dreams come alive and characters take on a life of their own.

For me, history is tangible and immediate — not a dusty thing of the past. It is a window through we can understand and appreciate the society in which we live. I believe that writers have a responsibility not only to enlighten and entertain, but also inspire others to improve the human condition. The joy I derive from writing comes from touching the lives of others and finding a way into their hearts. To validate what it means to be human — to live, love, laugh, and learn — is the greatest achievement to which any writer, present company included, can aspire.
